School Social Work

School Social Work is a municipal counselling organisation that works directly with schools. Our services are voluntary and free.

Our aims

We improve the personal and social skills of students at Baden primary schools and help to create a pleasant school environment. We work together with parents, teaching staff, school management and various offices of the city of Baden.

Our principles

  • We offer fast, straightforward support.
  • The students’ well-being is at the heart of everything we do.
  • We try to involve the children’s parents or guardians as much as possible in the consultation process and treat them as equal partners.
  • We are impartial and exercise professional discretion.
  • We refer students to institutions such as school psychological services, the Baden Advisory Centre, Beratungplus, child and youth psychiatric services, the Office for Integration, careers counsellors, etc.

Our services

. . . for students

  • We provide advice and guidance in relation to personal questions about their development, interactions with other people, family concerns or disagreements with teachers in one-on-one consultations.
  • We act as mediators and help everyone involved to resolve their conflicts in group consultations.

. . . for parents

  • We provide a point of contact for parents who are uncertain about how to deal with aspects of their school-age child’s behaviour.
  • We support parents through our involvement with the school; for example, by attending parent/teacher interviews or mediating in instances of conflict with the school.

. . . for teachers and school management staff

  • We advise and support school management and teaching staff in matters regarding the school’s culture, classroom dynamics and other social issues.
  • In collaboration with teachers, we also work through social issues with entire classes.
  • We assist teachers with preventative techniques (e.g. safe use of digital media).

Our availability

Students, parents and teachers can contact the School Social Work employees responsible for their school at any time.
