If you’d prefer to take it easy, there are plenty of fascinating museums, secluded parks and spectacular lookouts to explore – such as the castle ruins that tower over the city centre. There is also a comprehensive network of walking trails leading to and from Baden, such as to the nearby award-winning forest or along the idyllic esplanade of the Limmat river.
Keen shoppers will be spoilt for choice as they explore the city’s malls, boutiques and speciality stores before relaxing with a coffee or a glass of wine in one of the many cafés and bars along Baden’s pedestrian-only promenade.
Baden’s lively cultural scene has so much to offer.
The city’s diverse range of events attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. The main drawcards include international festivals such as the Fantoche Animation Film Festival and the Bluesfestival Baden, as well as major theatres such as the Kurtheater and numerous smaller playhouses, music venues like Nordportal and Werkk, not to mention an impressive assortment of museums. And every ten years the city hosts the Badenfahrt Festival, which is one of Switzerland’s biggest events and has achieved international acclaim.
